Itanile Magazine is delighted to announce that the June 2021 Collins Elesiro Literary Prize is open for submissions. The prize welcomes submissions from writers of African descent, without the restriction of place, age, gender, background, theme or form. “Creativity is merely a plus name for regular activity,” John Updike once said. “Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or better.” We are actively searching for writers who care about doing it right or better. Entrants may submit one previously unpublished poem, fiction or nonfiction of up to 3000 words.

We will announce the judges in due course. We regret that we can’t contact all entrants, only those whose works are shortlisted. Shortlisted writers might receive editorial feedback and a request to revise before publication in our magazine.

We recommend you download and read our latest Issue 8: Expanse (Freedom Magazine) before submitting.

This year, Freedom Magazine continues its exciting relationship with Crystalinks Edu & Collins Elesiro. Our mandate remains to tell the best of African Stories and promote African storytelling as best as we can.
