Shared cost, shared revenue
You pitch us your manuscript and we tell you whether we would like to work on it. If we go ahead, we work out what it will cost to get the book edited, designed, published and promoted.
That cost is shared. You contribute part of it, and Itanile’s team covers the rest, paid back through an upfront deposit and a portion of royalties. The share of the cost each side carries sets the share of the revenue each side keeps.
For example: if the initial cost comes to ₦1,000,000 and you contribute half, you keep half of the revenue. This is an illustration, not a price list.
This model is still evolving. The exact terms, including costs and splits, are different for each book and are agreed in a written agreement with you before any work starts.

From submission to readers
You submit
Your book arrives in our review queue, linked to your account.
We review
An editor checks the files and details. If something needs fixing, we send it back with a note.
You go live
We publish it and email you a link. It appears on itanile.org and in Itanile Reader.

Do I have to pay to publish?
Not to self-publish through the submission form. A publishing partnership is co-financed, so you contribute to the cost of the work our team does. The amount is agreed per book.
Can I set my own price?
Yes. You choose the price when you submit. You can also publish a book for free.
What is a publishing partnership?
An arrangement where you and Itanile share the cost of publishing your book, and share the revenue in proportion. See the explanation above, or email us.
Will you publish my book on Amazon?
That is part of a publishing partnership. Tell us you are interested when you write to us.
I write short fiction, poetry or essays. Can I submit those?

I already have books on Itanile. What do I do?
Create an author account with the email you used when you submitted. We will link your existing books to you.
