freedom magazine panel of judges

A panel will review the 2018 Dec. Freedom Magazine Award. Michael Tolulope Emmanuel, novelist, poet and short fiction writer sits as the Chairperson of this judging panel.

The craft of writing, if likened to a track, has been run by so many great names. Our minds travel back to Homer, to Shakespeare, the Bronte sisters, and the trailblazer writer, Achebe. To become a part of what these ones have created, to join history and write history, and to be blessed with competitions that allow writers explore this beautiful thing we call writing, is truly a privilege. It is our hope that writers would continue to see writing contests, such as this, as a medium to stretch, grow, break grounds, and pen stories that transform. – Micheal Emmanuel (Chair, Panel of Judges).

The Panel

Also on the international judging panel are three other judges representing  the three categories we focus on. They will be: Poet and Author Jide Badmus, Novelist and Fiction Writer Joe Aito and Copy Editor Karo Oforuofo.

Each year the judges select five winning entries from each category. The final winner will be selected by the scores from votes, opinion of judges and deliberations by the cfwriterz editorial team.

Selection Process:

  1. Voting for entries on the long list weighs 40% and is exclusive of the Panel’s selection. The voting is done by comments and shares on the website. Voting commences on or before the 30th of November. For the sake of equity, we ask that voters comment before sharing. The difference between comments and shares will not be considered.
  2. The Panel’s selection weighs 60%. Authors selected by the judges will be ranked by their voting scores.
  3. The final winner will be selected from the shortlist by the cfwriterz team headed by Oladeji Jonathan D. (Founder).
