The Creative Freelance Writerz’ group is delighted to host Facebook live literary webinars.

The webinars are an initiative that reflects our mission to create a platform that encourages the literary craft within the African space. As a commitment to promoting African literature, we have published five editions of our bi-annual magazine, with a sixth edition set for release in the coming weeks.

For the webinars, we are pleased to host Caleb Somtochukwu Okereke, freelance journalist at Al Jazeera English and Managing Editor at Minority Africa; Gloria Mwaniga Minage, writer, editor, and a 2019 Miles Morland Scholarship fellow; Jide Badmus, engineer, poet, and author of Scriptures and There Is A Storm in My Head.

The questions of publishing, storytelling, and literary writing are gaining more prominence now more than ever. The concept of African Literature is constantly being morphed, and there’s a gap between the stories we want to write, and the stories being told. We believe these discussions would be a compass to honest storytelling, publishing strategies, and engaging writing as a tool for continental and global narratives.

Conversations would centre on opportunities for contemporary writing, international networking and global pathways, and refining your craft. The sessions would hold on the 20th of June by 6pm (GMT +1) on the Creative Freelance Writerz Group. As we prepare for the publication of our magazine’s sixth edition, we believe the sessions would provided a much-needed enlightenment for African literature enthusiasts. We hope to beam the light on the essential role digital literary platforms play as key voices in the continental storytelling space.

We are excited for this.
