Lines, Crooked like the Nile is a collection of poems filled with imagery and garnished with the condiments of other necessary literary figures that make poetry what it is.

The poems encapsulate themes such as love, heartbreak, ethnicity, racism, peace, and philosophy. Most of the lines are concerned with African preoccupation and they are really crooked like the Nile.

Excerpt from Lines, Crooked like the Nile

If again, my Heart were Broken
Heartbreaking may be an added value to Love‘s currency.
The night my heart broke like a day, all affection was a shield
of quenched fireflies, masking the moon…

If my heart were broken again, I would heave fainting stones for sighs;
pick the shattered saucers, and in the grave room of blooming
gloom, croak an eternal train of why…why…why…
I would use my tears that joined the tidal parish
of the broken-hearted as water; and poetry as clay.
I would TopBond the saucers into a whole. I would leave
the room of gloom to live again, and my heart would
be the sky where the fascist sun of love smiled again…
strong smile, tattering the cloud of gloom like the tired gown of Time.
